How to start a Studio Session in Revu 21
- 1
Open Studio
Go to Window > Panels > Studio, choose your region and sign in.
- 2
Create the Session
Select Add > New Session and give it a name.
- 3
Add the drawings
Select Add and choose the PDFs to include.
- 4
Set permissions
Set the default permissions for attendees and select OK.
- 5
Invite attendees
Enter email addresses, select Check & Include Emails, then Invite Participants.
Inviting people
Revu opens Invite Users after you create the Session. Choose Type or Paste Emails, enter the addresses separated by commas or spaces, select Check & Include Emails, then Invite Participants. Each person gets an email with a link to join. To invite more later, select Share, or Invite during the Session.
Permissions and private Sessions
In Session Settings, the Permissions tab holds the Attendees group, which applies to everyone. Add specific users or groups to give them different rights. The Attendees tab lets you add people by email or Block someone. Make this Session private is on by default, so only attendees with Allowed status can enter.
Finishing a Session properly
Only the host or users with Full Control can finish a Session. Make sure nobody is still working, select the Session name and ID at the top of the panel, choose Finish Session, pick whose markups to keep, and choose Save (Overwrite Existing), Save In Folder or Do not save files. You can also generate a Session report. Once a Session closes, its files are no longer available in Studio, and owners can reactivate a finished Session.
What changes for Revu 20
In Revu 20 you need a licensed copy of Revu to host a Session, and unlicensed attendees use View mode. Revu 20 has passed end of support, and its Studio access ends on December 31, 2026; see Revu 20 end of support for the dates and options.
Working on the same drawing in ContractorCounter
In ContractorCounter there's no Session to set up: a shared workspace is live whenever more than one person has it open. You see who is in it and their named cursors, and markups appear for everyone within seconds, in the browser on Windows, Mac or iPad. Invites go by email or share link on any paid plan, from US$1 a week, billed US$4 every 4 weeks.

What happens to markups when a Studio Session ends?
When the host finishes the Session, they choose whose markups to keep and whether to overwrite the files or save copies in a folder. After a Session closes, its files are no longer available in Studio.
