Bluebeam for iPad in 2026

Revu for iPad was removed from sale and support at the end of 2025. On an iPad today, Bluebeam means its free field app: markups, basic measurement and Studio, without the full Revu toolset.

How to set up Bluebeam on an iPad

  1. 1

    Check your iPadOS version

The Bluebeam app needs iPadOS 18 or later.

  2. 2

    Install the app

Search for Bluebeam in the App Store and install it. The app is free.

  3. 3

Sign in and open your files

Sign in, then open a Studio Project or Session, or a PDF from the Files app.

  4. 4

    Bring your tools across

Import BTX tool sets from Revu so your usual markups are available, including offline.

  5. 5

Sync before you go to site

Mark Project files for offline use ahead of time so they open without a connection.

What happened to Revu for iPad

Bluebeam removed Revu for iPad from sale and support at the end of 2025. Existing installs may keep running for a while, but Bluebeam says future iPadOS updates will eventually make them inoperable. Its replacement on iPad and iPhone is the Bluebeam app, described on the App Store as a field app for PDF workflows.

What the Bluebeam iPad app can do

Markups: callouts, text, clouds and status, with photos attached to a markup. Tool sets: import BTX tool sets curated in Revu. Measurement: length, area, polylength and count. Studio: join Sessions for live collaboration, and check files in and out of Projects. Offline: sync Project files ahead of time, or open PDFs stored on the iPad. It also opens files from the Files app and other document apps.

What it needs, and what users say

The app is free and needs iPadOS 18 or later. Placing and editing markups on a checked-out Project file is for licensed users. On 27 October 2026 it was rated 1.5 out of 5 from 408 ratings on the US App Store; recurring complaints are Apple Pencil responsiveness and editing existing markups. Test it on a real drawing set before you rely on it in the field.

Using Bluebeam on a Mac instead

If the iPad is standing in for a laptop, note that the same app also runs on Macs with Apple silicon, and full Revu needs Windows. How to use Bluebeam on a Mac covers the web app, the iOS app and Parallels.

Marking up drawings on an iPad with ContractorCounter

ContractorCounter runs in Safari on an iPad, so there's no app to install: open the drawing, mark it up with touch or Apple Pencil, calibrate the scale and measure or count, and the same workspace opens on the office computer. It needs a connection, as there's no offline mode. See using ContractorCounter on iPad; plans start at US$1 a week, billed US$4 every 4 weeks.
