What's new in ContractorCounter: October 2026

Simpler plans, per-person teams, drawing-style dimensions, centre marks, faster drawings, and PDF exports that match the canvas.

October was a big month. Plans are simpler and teams are priced per person. Dimensions now read like drawing dimensions, heavy drawings open and sharpen faster, and exported PDFs look the way the canvas does. Marking up on a phone or tablet also works the way you'd expect.

Simpler plans, and teams priced per person

There is now one weekly price for everyone, billed every 4 weeks, with yearly and one-time lifetime options. There's no trial to remember any more. A free account is a preview: you can open drawings and use the markup, measuring and counting tools, but work isn't saved or exported, and the AI agent isn't included. Existing plans keep their current price, and workspaces you saved before the change stay viewable. See pricing for the current prices in your currency.

Pro is now priced per person, and teams are part of it. Choose how many people when you subscribe, then add or remove people any time from Plan & Billing. Changes are charged or credited the same day. Any Pro subscriber can create a team and invite their crew, and a team can pay yearly like a single person.

Invites are more dependable too. The address is checked before the email goes out, and if an invite can't be used, the page says why: wrong account, expired, already used, or the team is full. People you share a workspace with can see who else has access, and can leave from the Share menu.

Dimensions that read like drawing dimensions

Dimensions show the measured length as you draw, and the text stays upright whichever way you draw the line. On short dimensions the arrows move outside and the label moves clear. You can choose arrows, architectural ticks, dots or no ends, plus horizontal text, the label offset and extension lines. Double-click a dimension and type a length (300, 300mm or 12'6") to resize it.

Measurement labels gain fixed decimals, feet and inches, and options to hide the unit or show the label with its value. Areas and perimeters can show each side's length, and lines, arrows and ellipses can carry a label. When labels from two markups would overlap, the later one moves clear, both on screen and in exports. Set all of this from the new Label button on the toolbar or in Properties.

Centre marks and line ends for setting out

Right-click a rectangle, ellipse or polygon and choose Mark Centre to add a centre point or dash-dot centrelines: horizontal, vertical or both. They follow the shape's own axes and run past its outline.

Lines, arrows, polylines and perimeters get eight end styles for each end: closed or open arrow, tick, dot, circle, square, diamond or none, with an end size. You'll find them under the new Ends button on the toolbar, in Properties, or on the right-click menu, which also has Swap Line Ends. Dotted lines now draw as round dots, and dotted, dashed and dash-dot patterns look the same at every line weight and zoom.

Faster, sharper drawings

Heavy drawings open faster, especially on phones. The viewer shows a sharp preview of the page straight away instead of downloading the whole PDF first. The zoom levels you're likely to use next are prepared in the background, so the first zoom-in comes back sharp in well under a second. New uploads are prepared before you open them.

Markups no longer disappear when you're zoomed in and scroll with the keyboard or the scrollbar.

Exports that match the canvas

Exported PDFs now match what you see on screen more closely. Label and stamp opacity, rounded corners on polylines and areas, cloud borders, shapes with no border, count marker transparency, callout leader lines and label positions all export as they look on the canvas.

Easier markup, on any screen

  • Group markups. Select two or more and press Ctrl/Cmd+G to move and select them as one. Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G ungroups.
  • Act on the whole selection. Colour, weight, opacity, fill, font and Duplicate now apply to everything you've selected, with one undo.
  • Pick the markup you mean. Clicking inside a see-through shape picks what's underneath. Hold Alt (Option on Mac) and click to step down through markups stacked at one spot.
  • Paste where you're looking. Paste lands on the page you're viewing, and Paste in Place (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+V) repeats a markup in the same spot on any sheet of the drawing.
  • Undo you can see. Undo and redo take you to the page they change, and undoing a dimension drag puts it back where it was.
  • Rulers in real units. View > Show Rulers now starts at the page corner and reads real-world distances on a scaled drawing.
  • Ellipses and flips. Drag a box to draw an ellipse, like Bluebeam; hold Shift for a circle. Flip now works on ellipses and on rotated markups.
  • No lost pen drawings. Pressing Esc while drawing with the Pen saves it, just as Enter does.

On phones and tablets, one finger moves around the drawing, and a markup only moves after you tap to select it, so panning never drags one by accident. Press and hold, then drag, to select several markups. One tap with the Text tool places a text box and opens the keyboard. Turn on Keep tool to place several shapes or measurements in a row.

A quicker first session

New accounts can open a ready-to-measure sample floor plan with one click. A short walkthrough shows where the drawing, tools, AI agent and Bill of Quantities live, and a checklist takes you through setting the scale, measuring, counting and adding to your BoQ.
