How the Affiliate Program Works

Anyone with a ContractorCounter account can join the affiliate program, whether or not they subscribe. You get a tracked link, and you earn 40% of every payment the people you refer make, for as long as they stay customers. This article covers joining, how a referral is credited to you, when commission clears, and how you get paid. The full terms are on the program page at contractorcounter.com/affiliate.

Your affiliate page shows the tracked link, clicks, signups, paying customers, and what you have earned.

What you earn

You earn 40% of what your referred customer pays, excluding sales tax and VAT, on every payment they make — not just their first. A $140.00 yearly Pro subscription earns you $56.00 the first year and $56.00 again every year they renew. Pro on any billing cadence, Team seats, and the Lifetime licence all count. AI credit top-ups are the one exclusion, because they are priced close to what they cost us to run.

How a referral is credited to you

Your link carries a code that is remembered in the visitor's browser for 90 days, so the click and the signup do not have to happen in the same visit. First touch wins: if someone follows your link and later arrives through another affiliate, they stay yours. Attribution happens when the account is created, so an existing customer who opens your link is not transferred to you, and you cannot refer yourself. The referral appears in your dashboard as a signup straight away, and becomes a paying customer the first time they pay.

When commission clears

Each commission is held for 120 days from the payment before it becomes payable. That is the card-network dispute window: a customer can charge a payment back months after making it, so paying you sooner would mean asking for the money back later. Your dashboard shows held and payable amounts separately, and each commission row shows the date it clears. A fully refunded payment or a lost chargeback reverses its commission; if a chargeback is later resolved in our favour, the commission comes back. A partial refund is adjusted case by case rather than automatically.

Getting paid

Payouts run monthly, once your payable balance is at least $50.00. Below that the balance rolls over to the next month rather than being lost. Add your PayPal address or bank details under Payout details on the affiliate page — without them there is nowhere to send the money. Payments are made by hand today, so allow a few days after the monthly run.

What is not allowed

No bidding on ContractorCounter brand terms in paid search, no coupon or deal-site listings, no spam, and no referring your own accounts. Any of those ends the arrangement, and an affiliate account can be suspended — commission already earned is unaffected by a suspension. If you are unsure whether a channel is fine, ask before you run it.

If something looks wrong

Your dashboard is the record: clicks, signups, paying customers, and every commission with its clearing date. If a referral you expected is missing, the most common reasons are that the person already had an account before clicking, or that they cleared their browser storage between clicking and signing up. Email support@contractorcounter.com with the details and we will check the ledger against Stripe.
