Using Visual Search
Visual search is the second mode of the Search panel. It compares a captured drawing region against the active drawing when text search is not enough. It suits symbols, repeated details, and image-based drawing areas.

Run visual search

Open Search
Open the Search panel from the sidebar rail and switch to the Visual Search tab.

Capture the target area
Use Get Rectangle to capture a focused region. One symbol or detail works better than a whole sheet.

Run the match
Choose whether to search the current page or the whole document, then run Search. The matcher automatically checks nearby symbol sizes and 90-degree rotations.

Review matches
Inspect returned locations in grid or list view (sortable by match distance, orientation, or rotation) before creating markups or counts from the result actions.
Use text search first when possible
If the drawing has searchable labels, text search is usually more deterministic. Use visual search for symbols, image-only pages, and visual similarity work.
